Zijda Yachting has been active in the water sports industry for about 25 years. During that time, we have grown to become one of the larger motor yacht rental companies in Friesland.
We launched Zijda Yachting in 1998 with a fleet of 20 Crown Blue Line boats that we rented out to water sports enthusiasts. At the same time, we began offering maintenance and repair services—a natural combination of service, technology, and fun on the water. We soon discovered how special it is to help people enjoy boating in Friesland.
From 2000 to 2005, we built what Zijda Yachting is today, step by step. Through hard work, technical expertise, and a personalized approach, our customer base grew gradually. For us, the customer always comes first; we invested in relationships, knowledge, and quality, thereby laying the foundation for our own fleet and a reliable water sports company.
Between 2006 and 2007, we saw demand for boating vacations increase. We expanded our services and increasingly developed into a versatile partner for rentals, maintenance, and service. Partnerships in the region led to additional growth and sustained visibility.
From 2008 to 2010, we made significant progress. Our fleet grew and became more modern, and we took our service to the next level. By around 2010, we had laid a solid foundation and built up a loyal customer base, which allowed us to look to the future with confidence.
In the years that followed, our love for the water remained the driving force behind everything we do. We expanded our fleet, improved our service, and deepened our technical expertise. And our customers were always our top priority—whether it was a boating vacation or boat maintenance.
A major milestone in our development took place in November 2022, when we moved from our old location on the Zoutepoel in Sneek to a brand-new home base in Jirnsum. For many years, the Zoutepoel was where many of our customers had their first boating experience with us, but the move opened up new opportunities.
In Jirnsum, we took over the De Boarnstream marina, a spacious location with 220 berths, modern facilities, maintenance hangars, and a marina office. This means we now also have a marina with permanent berths ranging from 9.50 meters to 17.00 meters.
The new location offers our guests and permanent berth holders more space, as well as a beautiful setting in the heart of the Frisian lake district, situated on the old De Boorne River and bordering the Prinses Margriet Canal, on the outskirts of the nostalgic village of Jirnsum. This stunning location also serves as a perfect base for exploring destinations such as the IJsselmeer or the Wadden Sea. This is exactly what the Frisian lakes are known for. Today, Zijda Yachting is a full-service water sports company that combines motor yacht rentals with maintenance, refits, berths, and personalized service. What once started small has grown into a place where water sports enthusiasts feel at home, whether they’re sailing for the first time or are experienced captains with years of experience. Our goal has always remained the same: to help people enjoy the water, with care, professionalism, and craftsmanship.
